Australian Museum Admits to Displaying Fake Picassos
Thursday, July 11th, 2024
Happy Thursday MCIC community!
I would love to hear your thoughts on the latest article I’ve come across.
In 2020 the Australian MONA first sparked controversy when they opened a “Ladies Lounge” creating a women only exhibit displaying several Picassos in a room covered in green silk. They were sued and eventually found guilty of violating Australia’s Anti-Discrimination Act forcing them to close the exhibit. The museum’s curator chose to move the Picassos into the ladies restroom in response. As it turns out – the “Picassos” displayed are FAKES. Read below to learn more about who was behind this and why she did it.
