Remembering 9/11

Hey MCIC Community!

I found this article to be very thought provoking as I remember 9/11 today.

Beth Hillman, president and CEO of the 9/11 Memorial and Museum said the following in regards to New Yorkers visiting the museum: “We find a visit to the museum is a powerful experience for all the people who come when they’re ready, often accompanied by friends or colleagues, and they get a chance to actually engage and remember — not only some of the hardships of that day, but also the remarkable way in which New York responded afterwards and recovered.”

It is an interesting perspective to consider that pausing to remember a moment in history, as we do at museums across the globe, can be therapeutic for some. I hope this to be true and that all those affected by the events of 9/11 are surrounded by loved ones today.
